Dear supporters,

We are heartbroken to inform you that Resurrection Health and Resurrection Health Family Medicine Residency will be closing on December 31, 2017. There are a multitude of ongoing factors and a couple of disappointing events earlier this week that have made it impossible to for us to continue. Specifically, our hope of receiving adequate ongoing funding for the residency program ended Thursday–when Congress voted for a three month continuing resolution that included less than half of the previous financial support. Additionally, our hopes of securing additional federal funding for our clinical care through other partnerships fell through. Given those realities, and a number of other factors, Resurrection Health has inadequate cash to continue business. Our leadership team has exhausted every possible option and the decision has been made that the best way to lead is to help people transition before we run out of money.

Cherokee Health Systems will take over operating all of our clinics on January 1, 2018 so there will be continuing care for all of our patients.  Our providers and staff have also been given the option to apply to continue to serve their patients under Cherokee’s management. Our leaders are working to ensure that all of our residents are taken care of since this transition is taking place in the middle of their academic year.  Please pray for God to quickly provide for our residents and staff. Pray also that He would carry our leaders as they are working through this holiday season to close down this organization that they so dearly love.

Being a part of Resurrection has changed all of us.  We have seen God move on our behalf thousands of times. We have seen beautiful things happen in the lives of our patients and have loved serving our city through Rez Health. As our people scatter to other organizations and some to other cities and nations we trust that the Lord will continue to carry out the vision of Rez Health.

We appreciate the financial support many of you have provided.  For those who have used automated giving for your donations we will be contacting you soon about how to end those. We covet your prayers over the days and weeks ahead.

We trust that the verses we read and sing about Emmanuel are true.  God is with us. He is for us. He will accomplish His purposes through this difficult season.
